The SICKTarot questions our personal relationship with health, sickness and disability through the format of a tarot deck. How do we love ourselves and take care of ourselves through spirituality? What does healing mean outside the rooms of a hospital? What collective memories do we cherish as unruly and/or sick bodies? Who’s our Emperor? What crip-knowledge lies underneath the Sun?

The SICKTarot Deck is an act of reclamation—a tool for those whose bodies move through a world that too often fails to see, hear, or support them. In a healthcare system designed to exclude, this deck turns to symbols of both struggle and survival, reshaping them into a source of power, pride, and resilience.

This deck invites you to rewrite your own narrative, to find meaning beyond the constraints of the industrial medical complex, and to weave new stories with joy and defiance. May these cards offer guidance where institutions fall short, and may they hold you in the places where care and humanity has been denied.

In response to the suits of the Tarot deck, reimagined here by Josefien Cornette and Bebe Books, artists Malaika Cunningham & Jennie Moran have concocted a collection of moments of hospitality for those attending the launch. They have created a menu of interruptions and edible offerings designed to spark mischief and fuel connections made over chance encounters. Designed with the help of Kunstencentrum VIERNULVIER and Jan Van Eyck Academie (NL).
